House Rules at Bucks Uni; Georgia (Legal Counsel at Molton Brown) explains why curiosity has fast tracked her career; and an update on the Virtual Fair.

On the Road
House Rules at LawFest
This week I spoke to school and undergraduate students at LawFest hosted by the University of Buckingham.

When asked, the majority of students were unaware that you don't have to work at a law firm to be a legal professional. Most students were pleasantly surprised to hear that you could be a lawyer at Ferrero like one of the Virtual Fair speakers. House Rules is about changing this by raising awareness about purposeful in-house careers.

I'm grateful to the team University of Buckingham for inviting me with my I Love House Rules stickers and over-sized banner (the printers assured it was standard size).

Georgia Elliott
Legal Counsel, Molton Brown
Georgia is Legal Counsel at Molton Brown. She works across everything from commercial contracts to ESG strategy.

George is based up north and commutes to London a couple of times a month. This is the flexibility that working in-house sometimes offers. Despite what many students are led to believe, it certainly does not always mean working from an office in London five days a week. As well as sharing how she works, Georgia also shares how she got there.
“I would not be where I am without reaching out to people on LinkedIn. The in-house community wants to help.”

GEORGIA'S TOP TIPS
· Reach out to people in the in-house community on LinkedIn. They want to help.
· Get to know the industry before the interview, not during it.
· Ask questions, always. It is the worst thing not to.
